I move to Hong Kong in November, and I cant wait. I have been spending about three months a year in Hong Kong over the last four years and now finally moving for good (well at least 3 years).

Hong Kong is a fantastic city, and it depends what you are looking for - fantastic restaurants, great shopping and great people.

If you narrow your subject down slightly, to living, shopping, travel etc, I can give you some limited advice. Although this site will give a lot of info, I have spent many an evening pulling info from the forum - it is an excellent resource.

First of all apologies for my english, it was a bit rushed. oops. Anyway yes ill be teaching it, i am a Primary schol teacher (I went through the piece after you said i hope for god your not teaching english and found a million mistakes.)
Anyway I'd like to know more about accomodation in hong kong - heard a few things about the standard of it i.e. its not up to scratch, the bathrooms are horrid etc. Also what are accomodation prices like and bills.
Also is there many brits around cause im worried about making friends, i know ill make alot through my work and most are aged within my age bracket of 21-35 but I dont want to end up being a 21 yr old thats lonely and hating the experience, which im currently very open minded about and think im going to love.

Firstly, where are you working, and which areas do you think you might want to live in? Do you have a budget in mind? Accommodation in HK does tend to be on the compact side, so don't expect to afford anything particularly spacious if you are on a limited budget.
Prices vary hugely.

The biggest initial expense for me when I moved to HK had to be the upfront costs needed for accommodation - rental deposit (2months), agent fees (half month) and the first month's rent in advance. Re: meeting people - lots of different events are organised regularly here, so just have a look (try the Meet and Greet section), and turn up! I'm not much of a social butterfly myself, but there do appear to be a number of regular party animals out there...

Well where I am working is over at Repulse bay so I guess i'll be living around near there. Its good to hear that theres alot of events going on which I can attend and meet people.
Feel as though my main issue of writing this is in relation to my 'little mistakes' and to make apologies.
Well i've already been informed that accomodation will be around 3-8000Hk dollars so i'm using that as a price range for me really. Although I dont want to be living in somewhere that isnt very nice and im therefore willing to stretch a little further. Im getting the impression aswell that Hk runs on a similar basis to the UK as far as accomodation goes. They expect upfront payments here as well as deposits etc.

At 3-8K HK$, you'll need to adjust your expectations on how close you can live next to repulse bay. Probably aberdeen / ap lei chau.
