| | | Urgent!! Dog Blood Donation Needed!! I have an urgent situation which might require blood donations from dogs! My sister's dog, BB, is 10 years old and starting last week, has started to urinate pools of blood. We have brought her to the vet and they are unsure what is exactly wrong with BB. They have speculated that she may have kidney stones and urinary tract infection.
However, her situation is unstable and the vet has needed to give her a blood transfusion. We have only been able to find one owner who was willing to donate blood. There is a possibility that BB may need more blood transfusions, so we are looking for more owners and their dogs to help us! BB is a very important member of the family so your help would mean a great deal to us!
The vet has told us that the dog needs to be 60kg and above for blood donations. Please leave your name, email address and/or contact number if you are able to help us! Thank you so much!!

| | | Surely you could get dog's blood in Shenzhen? They only need to be above 60kg if they need to live afterwards, but the dog shops in Shenzhen could probably do you a deal - you'd be reducing the value of their meat, but you might be able to get the dogs for, say, half price if you leave the drained carcass with the shop? At 4 or 5 pints per 20kg dog which, I'm guessing, might cost you 500RMB it's going to be a fraction of your vet's bill in HK.

| | | Thank you for your reply! However, our vet has only mentioned blood transfusions so we will try to stick to what he says. | |

| | | You're missing my point - you could get as many pints of dog blood as you want in Shenzhen for a few hundred RMB... The dogs that donate it will be someone's dinner shortly afterwards anyway, so surely it's a good thing that by taking all their blood to save your beloved pooch they don't die in vain?

| | | Get your vet to try to contact following places - some of them may have oe be able to arrange blood.
Peace Avenue Vet Centre
The Ark
Pets Central Mongkok
SAA
Animal Medical Centre Mongkok
SPCA
All have blood donors available sometimes, but may not at moment as tick fever season and using a lot of blood there.

Too much risk of contamination.

| | | I'm not actually suggesting you bleed them yourself... I'm sure you could find a vet of some sort in Shenzhen who could do it in a way that's more or less acceptable. And if the beloved pooch in HK is dead otherwise then I guess you have to take the risk that the blood is not as perfect as you might like... | |

| | | Are you sure you're looking for 60kg dogs or 60pnd dogs, if 60kg then you'll need to find dogs that are 130pnds plus! | |

| | | Unless need a huge amount of blood then usually 60 lbs (20-25kg) or over is ok. | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 03:21 PM. | |
