Thumbs up Expat Badminton

I'm in need of curing my badminton fix. I realize it's mostly the locals that are playing badminton, but I can't communicate enough in the local language to play the game, let alone invite someone out to a showdown. But I am playing against locals, and it's been disappointing.

Do you like badminton? Do you have a racket? Then...let's play.

If you would like to play, I have but a few conditions:

a. You are good
You can contact the racket with the birdie most of the time. You can lob and serve.

b. You are not too good
If every hit of yours is a 'smash', and you can float in the air like Keanu in the Matrix, you are too good. Sorry. I've only been playing for like a year or two.

c. You know the rules
None of this "let's volley for half-an-hour" stuff. I just prefer to play by the rules - I think it makes the game more interesting.

d. You play for fun
I ain't that serious about Badminton. I just wanna play.

I live in Diamond Hill but I am often in Causeway Bay most every day.

Are you GAME?

Always want to play, but more than getting players I find it hard to get a court. Am not one of those who can plan and commit to a game 2 months in advance. If you have place I am game.

Badminton Club-first call

Hi there,

I'm running a badminton club for my friends. We currently have 6-8 regular active players, 5 non-regular players because they work overseas. They include locals, mainlanders and expats. We're very welcome those who like to play badminton to have better sparkle in the game. But the first condition to join is you must be at least at intermediate level or advance is better. If unfortunately you have interest but at beginner level, I have a personal coach who I consider good can refer to you.

This club is not commercial just a social club where the badminton lovers gather. We regularly have games on every Monday, Wednesday night (from 5:30pm to 7:30pm) and Saturday morning (11:30am to 1:30pm) at a sport Gym (located in a university in Kowloon side). All you need to do is come and play, share the cost (fee of the badminton court $10/hour/court and equipment-shuttlecock).

If you interest, let me know.

Chris

You don't need to book the Sheung Wan court two months in advance. I've seen it empty a fair bit...

Tried the online booking at LCSD?

Hi Chris,
I am interested in the Badminton club. I was Intermediate level I think, but having not played more than a couple of times since moving to HK (5 years), I am probably pretty rusty. Can you tell me more how to get to the Wednesday session (Saturday is too early!)

Smile play badminton

Hello everyone.. I am interested in playing badminton, but still a novice at this moment. Please tell me where I can to improve my skill. I did browse other badminton clubs' web site, but most only accept advance players. Let me introduce myself a bit...originally I am from the US (moved there when I was 10)...I arrive in HK only a bit over a month..

A few friends and I are starting an official Hong Kong badminton club to play weekly on HK
Island. Hope to have this up and running as soon as the goverment
approves our society registration (and we can block book courts in
advance). Hang in there everybody!

Time: Sunday 8-10pm
Location: Hong Kong Island
Cost: Estimated $480 / 6 months
Includes: Play time (2-hr/week), game set-up (with other ppl your
level), birdies
Bonus: May have free coaching sessions and organized competitions.

As this will be a non-profit club, ALL member fees will go towards
courts and equipment (actual costs) only. Members must bring their
own water and racquets.

More details to come soon... if interested, please send email to
HKBadminton@gmail.com and we'll add you to the mailing list.

Hey Chris. I'm interested, but 5:30pm is a little early. Still, where's the court, maybe I could join you guys at 6:30 or so?
