Chinese Wrong Code Problem

My computer Chinese software can't read email which write in Chinese sent from HK only. What's the problem?

OS = XP Pro (English).

Chinese software = NJStar Communicator

Even I change to "traditional", still can't read it.

Sometime even my own writing documents file can't be read also. But after few try, sometime will become no problem at all.

My OS totally can't used Chinese Star.

What's was my computer problem?
What should I do?

Why not just use Microsoft Office like normal people, or even OpenOffice? They both use Unicode and work across the globe.

I'm not an expert, but just try to help.
I used to use XP Eng version, but now I'm using Chinese version. As I remember you could go 'Control Panel' -> Region & Language -> advanced setting to select languages you need. The Traditional Chinese Big5 must be checked.
Or maybe you could close your NJStar and try.

Xiaoma, I try already, but still cannot.

I have whole set chinese software (OS, Office) run in other partition (this mean I have two OS running in my computer, I will always manually activated one and dis-activated one partition to run the other OS) but it was VERY suffer to use Chinese version because all computer term I learn was in English.

And most important thing was my internet service only allow me to setup in one OS, I try install the setup in both OS but it can't connected before I uninstall the other one. This means I can only setup my internet connection either in English OS or Chinese OS.

Mainly of my work done in English version, that's why I can't use Chinese OS as my prime OS.

Anybody here face similar problem before? Help me please...

There is a tool converting BIG5 and GB code to unicode. It is a small java application available under www.mandarintools.com It also can convert between traditional and simplified. It is also included in the powerful tool dimsum.jar which can do a lot more, liek showing you the pinyin for all characters of a website that you open through it.

Ok, this narrows it down a lot, sounds like you simply don't have any Traditional Chinese fonts installed, i.e. MingLiu.

I've put all the MS CJK fonts as an example in this doc, see if you can see them all:
