| Hello everybody, My husband and I are going back to HK beginning of next year. We both used to work there in 1998-1999: my husband had a working visa, and I had a dependant one. The company where I used to work is going to sponsor for my working visa. My question is: is it better for him to apply for a dependant visa once we are in HK, or stay there with his visitor visa until he finds a job and apply for a working visa? We are both French. He's working as business analyst in computer field. thanks for your replies. |

| hello As you do not know when he will find a job, I would recommend securing a dependant visa first so that he is legally allowed to stay in Hong Kong for likely a year on the dependant visa until it needs to be renewed. Also if you plan to stay in Hong Kong for a long time the dependant visa time can go towards 7 years continuous stay for permanent residency application, where visting does not. |
