Is this doable - multiple concurrent applications Hi, I am currently waiting for my work visa. Just last week another company made me an even better offer. So now I have to decide wether to sumbit the visa application for the new company while the other one is still pending, OR reject the offer from the new company. Any advise? I mean - will that cause the immigration to reject BOTH applications? Also, When you switch employers in Hong Kong do you also need to apply for a new visa, or the current visa is tranferable to the new employer? Many thanks.

The visa is linked to a specific employer (your sponsor). You can apply for a transfer of sponsorship, but the process is essentially the same as applying for a new Employment Visa, and you can't start working for the new employer until the transfer is approved. Moreover, you can't apply for the transfer until you have left the old employer, so there is a risk that the transfer won't be approved and then, in theory, you have 14 days to leave.

Looking for an employer who is willing to process my working visa May I ask on how you looked for a job in Hongkong. I am here in the Philippines and have a hard time looking for a job in Hongkong. Almost all companies in Hongkong would rather accept applicants that are also based in Hongkong. Do you know a source, like a website or an employment agency or companies in Hongkong that caters to applicants that are still outside Hongkong but is willing to work in Hongkong. I have consider going to HK and apply there eventually but almost all HK jobs forums advised me not to do it because it's impractical and risky and not feasible as far as getting a job is concerned. Thanks a lot in advance.

to PLDM: Thanks a lot. I guess my real concern is that, will my 2nd visa application be REJECTED based on the fact that, 1) I have a pending application with the immigration, OR 2) I have already started working in Hong Kong. to Rainie: It really depends on what you can bring to the table for the propective Hong Kong employer. I have seen many people successfully applied from overseas, and got the work visa. May I ask what's your filed of specialty?

Personally I wouldn't try two concurrent applications. Cancel the first one before or when you submit the second one. But do tell ImmD what you are doing so that they don't duplicate work that they have already done for the first application - they'll be thankful for you not wasting their time.

Rainie: jedi is right - Immigration Department will look into your qualifications (education/job experience/specialization) to determine whether you are bringing unique skill sets into HK. The sponsor/company will have to show that the position cannot be filled in by someone locally. Even the Philippine companies here prefer hiring those who are already residents as I can imagine having to go through the immigration hoops for newcomers can be quite daunting!
