| | | the further up you live, the less cockroaches. For starters mid level is good. Less cockroaches but because you are getting closer to mountain then might be more flies/mosquitos | |

| | | I am on a third floor. I am getting way too many cockroaches, this time of year it's about one a day, sometimes more. Sometimes I get a break for a bit and then it starts again. Yesterday it was 2 of them. Today none so far. I am trying my best to keep them out, but it's almost impossible. Taking a shower and have one walking out is not fun, nor is sleeping and having one run across you. | |

Doesn't matter if it's mid levels or not! I'm you have drains anywhere near where you live then expect cockroaches.

| | | OK HKChigger Did you really have to say..."nor is sleeping and having one run across you." That's only one step better than "btiing her eyelid".
Hubby says..."ah memories of growing up in Hong Kong". Then he said if we win the lottery we'll buy a place in the sky because they don't normally go up that high. His Mom's place in Taikoo Shing is on the 28th floor. We've stayed there 4x for 3+ weeks and I never saw anything!

| | | I think you may be making a big deal about the bugs/ roaches when it is really a little deal, at most. Don't stress about it. Every now and then (not nearly daily) I see the odd bug/ roach, but its not like they are everywhere. Put up screens in your house and keep food containers closed and you will be absolutely fine. Its not like these bugs are swarming around HK. | |

| | Just thought I would add to the tasteful convo here by adding I ripped apart my bedroom for cleaning yesterday and a bunch of cockroaches had gotten in to the box I store my christmas tree under the bed and the silly things had babies. So I spent a fair bit of time shooting the box/cockroaches coming out of it with killer spray as well as the eggs that were on the floor. In the end cockroaches bodies were all over the place but I happy they were gone | |

| | I live on the 16th floor and in two years I have never had a cockroach or spider or any insect bigger than a mozzy.
I have a phobia of insects ever since my brother put a big spider down my jumper when I was little. I opened my mouth to scream and pulled the jumper over my head which was a stupid combination of things to do as you can guess where the spider went

| | | Thanks for the tip about storing Christmas tree decs, I'll need a few big brandies before I tackle that job.
I'm terrified of creepy crawlies, but have managed to trap and release the odd cockroach (they only come in when the front door is open). Spiders on the other hand..... How fast do they move? I saw a message saying that they can "teleport", I can believe it.

| | | Thanks everyone. As I think I said earlier I have never lived anywhere where there were bugs...but we did do a 2 week vacation in Hawaii in 2004. The first week was a studio apartment in Kauai. Small but beautiful and no bugs. Never thought about it. Then we went to the big island of Hawaii. Brand new 1 bedroom house and there were cockroaches everywhere. I thought if you turned on the light they would run away. Not these ones. Plus they flew (I don't think they fly in Canada) and they were HUGE. My hubby said..."ah just like in Hong Kong". I did not sleep much that 2nd week and I made him go into the kitchen. Not a nice feeling and I surely don't want that in my home. | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 11:47 AM. | |
