No, so far all ways to unlock the iphone has been unsuccessful.
This is due the a apple private 1024bit key that encodes all processes before the actual OS runs making it pretty much tamper safe at the moment.
How ever i heard that the word is there might be some emulation software in dev. that might solve it.. but its pretty far away as i understood it.

I don't think these unlocking experts are that good. I have been waiting for a year to unlock my Nokia 6682. Good phone I want to use over here. Right now it is only my alarm clock...

i heard the battery on the iPhone is crap. it will die in about 1 to 2 years... and you can't open it up and put in a new battery and need to send it back to apple to get it replaced... sucks...

This morning I was called on an Iphone
The callee had just arrived from the Golden Mountain and was using the only Sim he was allowed to and was paying US$1 per minute, for the privelege.
Actually he seemed more impressed with my T688 aka the brick and used it a lot -when he was not posing with his Iphone,

the iPhone is indeed cool but i totally agree, it's really not all it's cracked up to be. the fact that Apple is SELLING the phones directly (ie. customer paying full price) but still only limit the phone to only AT&T is totally ridiculous, usually the only reason phones are locked is because customers get a 'discount' off the phone by signing onto a contract, but Apple sells the phones directly at their Apple Stores, which means we should be entitled to full ownership of the phone... they suck - unfort the iPod success made them cocky bastards...

Spot on goleoboy - my take is that Apple wanted to launch iPhone in U.S. only to ensure it's a success where it's launched, U.S. is notorious of not having any of the latest Nokia or SonyEricssons for sale, that's because the operators are demanding stupid things like above mentioned locking of iPhone.

Elsewhere, iPhone would not look so special because for many, many smartphone features it's a me-too product at best; but to most US consumers those features are something they've never seen before on a handset.

yep, US handsets suck, it's lightyears behind Asia and even Europe. A phone that's an mp3player/web-browser - whoopee... and their battery life is a joke... ironically, the iPhones (just like the iPods) are made in China. (i guess just like everything else here in the U.S.) :-))
