buy new input adapters for U.S. electronics

Guys, it is possible to buy new 220v input adapters that support the same output voltage for electronics that I bring from the U.S.? Ie. if an alarm clock requires a 9v output but my current adaptor is only 110v input supported, can i go to mongkok or ssp to pick up a new HK-based power adapter that supports the 9v? or is the region-sensitive voltage built into the device itself? not sure if I'm making myself clear... if so, pls help?!

I think 9 HK volts are the same as 9 US volts, so if your device requires a 9V input then yes buying a 220V-9V adaptor here will work (subject to current loading etc, but for small appliances that won't be an issue).

9V is DC and any convertor will do (unlike AC which has a frequency spec associated with it), as long as it has the right male / female connector.

Thanks guys, i didn't know there was a difference between AC / DC. Will probablyjust bring my US adapter to SSP or something and ask around. Do you guys have a 'go-to' store you would recommend who is more knowledgeable?

Just curious, for people who buy electronics shipped in from Japan (shui for) how do they accommodate the voltage differences? everyone use transformers at home?
