We are planning to purchase a 2nd hand car for some family reason. Is there any economical and low cost maintainance 2nd hand car that is worth considering? I appreciate your recommendation.

You could go the American route and buy a Civic or Accord. Parts are cheap and easily available, and Hondas are known for their reliability. Toyotas are up there too. Can't really go wrong with a Corolla or Camry, although they aren't very 'cool.'

yes, i thot honda and toyota be a better choice too. thinking of mazda as well, but this brand don seem as popular in hk

Mercedes are good value and easy to maintain.. the parts are common and you can pick up some bargains...
