Cost of Living in HK

Hi Friends,
I'm going to ask u a boring, many times posted question!!!. But i didn't get any better idea. That's why, i'm creating a new post here.

I'm having 5 yrs of exp in IT and single. I've got an offer to work in HK for 25,000 HKD.

Here are my Qs...

1. Is it the correct offer for my exp?. Can u mention the exact salay for this exp.
2. With 25,000, how should i manager my expenses in HK. I'm looking for a decent appt and planning to cook. And, i'm planning to save atleast 10,000/ HKD. Is it possible. If not, how much is possible.

Thanks in advance,
venkat

yes guys please awnser this, i am in exactly the same boat, however i have 11 months experience in my field and that would be my basic without comission, but i am not one to live beyond my means.

I have worked out that after tax my will be a minimum of
$19,125 PCM

and will be spending between 7-9k pcm for my 'cozy studio' untill i get settled in to HK life.

will say 10,000 pcm be suffficient to live i will be working in Centeral and my apartment will be in Causweay Bay.

Kind Regards

1. Yes, it seems OK. It is a little bit more than locals would get. A friend of mine (Canadian) has 7 years experience and also gets 25,000.
2. Get a 5k apartment in the New Territories or share a flat in a more central location. Then you can easily save 10-15k, unless you are eating out, drinking, and partying all the time.

Hi,

I just landed here abt a month n staying at New Territories, house rental cost around HKD6,000 to 7,000 per month (approx. 600+ sq ft), 2 rooms; fully furnished kitchen.

Hope this info can help.

From what I observed, HK was a mixed city. You can survive with few thousand dollars a month at here. You can't satisfy yourself with hundred thousand dollars a month.

For most economical ways, my estimation,
Renting a 80sq ft room (HKD1500), meals (HKD20 x 3meal x 30days=HKD1800), transportation (HKD600), Sundry (HKD500). Total amount was less than HKD5000 a month, and this amount was over estimated, a lot people can survive with lower amount. YOU CAN SURVIVE!!!

For luxury life, an apartment cost more than 100k a month. YOU CAN'T SATISFY YOURSELF!!!

Everybody have their own preference, somewhere in between this two kind of extreme. Enjoy your life in HK? Keep money for your future? All depend on your preference.
