If you Air con with a dry setting you may care to buy a timing swith and run the unit some time during the day. For the clothes cupboards . Go to the stores and get loads of the granulated chemical dehumidify packs. Put them in the cupboards ( after following the instructions )nd close the doors and tape the gaps. Effectively forming a sealled box or near as. Works for me.

House-sitting? Humidity is a real problem. We used to return to Australia every three months for a couple of weeks at a time, and the house always had that mold smell. We used to use the granules, but nothing worked really well. Have you thought about getting a house-sitter? I believe the house-sitter pays to the tenant a reduced rental and enought to cover the utilities etc. We are looking at coming over to HK soon and would be looking for a place to stay. Let me know if you're interested.

What i usually do when I leave my apartments empty when I'm in u.k is to cover things like the table etc with newspaper as that soaks up some of the moisture in the air.

Get a dehumidifier with a hose attachment, and let it drain into the tub. Along with Boris' suggestions, that should keep your place dry as a desert. Also, be sure that your place is totally closed - don't even think about leaving ANY windows open, close all fan lids, etc.
