What is the best mainland golf club to join?

Hi,

I'm thinking of joining a golf club in Hong Kong or China. The HK ones seem to have prohibitive joining fees. I'm not sure which mainland ones have the shortest (realistic) transit times.

My wife is likely to commit justifiable homicide if I spend the entire day travelling back and forth.

Does anyone have any suggestions, recommendations and/or idea of the costs involved on particular mainland courses.

I'm an inveterate hacker, but a committed one. I'm hoping to find a friendly, informal course within an hours drive+cab ride from the city. (and a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!, I'll take what I can get).

Thanks

Got a couple of friends who really like Mission Hills - no personal experience.

You had a look at Kau Sai Chau in Sai Kung - HKJC course so green fees quite cheap and anyone welcone (not a members club) but think getting a booking can be difficult unless you get time in the week.

People buy automated dialers which are programmed in advance to get the bookings at that course.

mission hill is really pricey,

joining one isn't a very good idea economically, membership can be rent and stuff

mainland golf clubs usually provide transport for thier HK members, some of them even door to door

personally, i don't play it at all, but there r lots of players in my familiy

can u be more specific and i am sure i can help u out
u can join our (their) game if u don't mind playing with the locals, some of them speak english alright

try Long Island

take a look at Long Island. The memberships are only about RMB200,000 and they have monthly payment plans. if you live close to Sheung Wan or TST, you can take the FuYong ferry and then a 20 min. shuttle bus or taxi ride. FuYong immigration is 1/10th the time it will take you at Lowu or Huangang on the weekend in the foreigners line.

Still, any way you dice it, golf on the mainland is a minimum 8-hour proposition, unless you live in Fanling or Sheung Shui !! So get a family membership and take them along for the pool and tennis !

Usually,to book the weekends' tee time 10-15 days in advance will be easier.
