watson's has a counter, at least it used to... they just refurbished it and i don't know if they've taken it away or not...
also, the doctor's offices have pharmacies...

there is a pharmacy counter in the mannings in tung chung...

thanks for the info. guess really there is no need for pharmacies as people would have a tendency to go to a doctor as oppose to to a chemist....

Well except that there are quite a few things which only pharmacies can dispense in HK which you really don't need a doctor for - ibuprofen (Nurofen/Advil) for example.

the fact that there is only 1 pharmacy counter in watsons - does this mean that most people would buy medication on their way back from work in places such as central or tung chung? a friend of ours would like to open a chemist in either central or db....db seems like a good choice as there is just 1 pharmacy? welcome any thoughts....

Bear in mind also the age profile of DB - there are very very few old people there, so I imagine that the answer from most people when asked "where do you buy your medication" is that they don't.

thanks for the pointer on the age profile..you're right, it seems there are very few old people in db. however, are health supplements or vitamins popular with the younger group? if so, would they rather buy them in central or tung chung while on the way back from work or shopping?

Health supplements and vitamins are available in DB at Watsons, Mannings, the health shop next to Mannings and the American Nutrition Centre - I doubt there is a need for another shop selling them.

Pharmaices and Clinics

The pharmacy counter in Watson's is open most of the time. I also used one of the clinics recently (there are three) and they are self dispensing (i.e. they sell you the prescription right there if they have it). I had no problem walking an and getting served at the clinic. And BTW, there are a LOT of commercial pilots living in DB and they often get their flight physicals there.
