| | I don't think he should resign- I think he should be shot.
TIME magazine has already prepared a front cover:
I'm not sure how long this will stay up here!!:

| | | I don't see how a resignation of Bush would lead to any change in US policy before the 2008 elections. There is no provision in U.S. law for new presidential elections in the case of the death, removal or resignation of a sitting president and thus, the world would be stuck with a president Cheney until January 2009. Not sure how that would be better than the status quo. | |

| | That's a good point Tex. I guess he'd have to make like the Time mag cover and go to prison. | |

| | | The Speaker of the House (Nancy Pelosi-D) is second in line to the presidency and would assume office if both President and VP die, resign, become incapacitated or impeached at the same time or within an interval too short for the vacant vice-presidency to be filled. By Law, vice-presidential vacancies must be filled by the President and confirmed by Congress. | |

At the moment there is a sense of antipathy fuelled in part by the fact that he is out of there soon anyway.
Compared to what Clinton did and the repercussions he almost faced GWB should have been impeached and sent to trial years ago.

| | | Unless everyone in Washington resigns as well there is no point. People often forget that Bush won the elcetion not once, but TWICE! What should that tell you???? That should tell you that at those particular points in time, there was NO ONE better than him whom the country wanted to see at the helm. Scary?? Yes... But that's not the issue.
Bush is just a pawn. People focus on Bush because he personifies the system are idiots who are always calling for his impeachment/resignation. As usual, the sheep are too stupid to look past the attached puppet strings.
Bush is not the cause of what's wrong with America, he's the result.

| | | It amazes the whole world how a guy like Bush can be leader of the most powerful nation in the world. No wonder the US has become a laughing stock and lost all moral authority. I watched a program where a survey of ordinary people asked them to name two clichés about Americans and the most frequently cited were “fat” and “stupid”, which is unfair because half of America represent among the best in the world. He seems a decent guy on a personal level but he is wholly unqualified for the job. 2000 was probably lost by a mix of Clinton and Gore, and 04 was won because Bush banged on with a simple message about security in the midst of a climate of fear and anxiety that he created with the slogan “war on terror”. Now that is genius; brilliant marketing. Scare everyone senseless, then act strong and protecting, and play that message over and over again, even if reality suggests that his actions have increased danger. The Democratic message and Kerry was too clever and suave for its own good. Lesson is: keep it simple! Appeal to lowest common denominator.
As to Keith Olbermann, I think he just preaches to the converted. It’s excruciating listening to one of his rambles. I can never get through an entire one. I find Bill Maher much more balanced, fair and intelligent. And Real Time is so much more entertaining. Dare I say it, I’d rather watch even Bill O’Reilly than Olbermann. | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 02:29 PM.
