Update: Actually ive been applying to many jobs posted through online sites, such as south china morning post online and I already have an interview set up for next month with AIG. Thats just 1 out of the 20+ positions I've applied for in the last 4 days though, so I'm hoping to hear more back, but we'll see.

I understand what you're saying that a fresh grad from overseas doesnt have more much to offer, but i do have fluency in mandarin and am a native english speaker.. plus a degree from one of the top universities in the US to boot. I interned this last year for a financial services firm with investments. I know it doesnt amount to much, but I'm not looking for a 6 figure job: im looking for something decent to start my career off to get me to Hong Kong and hopefully move up from there.

I'm mostly worried now about getting a work visa...

I see. This clarifies things a bit.

But I still think your skill set leans towards Mandarin speaking countries rather than HK. But if you like HK as a place, then why not try? Good luck soulG.

Thanks for the heads up about the work visa, so I'm not putting all of my marbles in one basket.. I'm still sending resumes / inquiries / phone calls / applications to about 3-5 job postings / companies per day... I've already got 3 responses, but I'll try to be cautious.

@keto1: I was originally going to move back to Beijing, but I'm thinking there will be more career opportunities in HK, also salaries will be higher.. even if it is equivalent based on living expenses, the absolute dollar amounts put in the bank are much different, which is important when paying student loans back in USD. If i were saving 10% of my monthly income in Beijing vs HK, the 10% in HK will be much larger than in BJ, and thus easier to pay back loans.

Any other job-types or online ads i should be weary of?
