Shenzhen on 15th of July

Hello folks,

Since last time was such a big hit I want to go to Shenzhen, China again with a group of people. Group size is no big deal, but lets go have some fun just like last time! Here is the ROUGH timetable.

July 15th 2007
10am - Folks that want to join the trip to Shenzhen may meet at Kowloon Tong station at the FRONT of the PLATFORM for trains going towards LoWu/Lok Ma Chau.

10:15am -Train departing for Lo Wu will arrive and take the group away to Lo Wu control point.

11am -Arrival at Lo Wu port for immigration/customs formalities.

11:37am- All folks have cleared customs and are standing in Shenzhen, China.

At this point the group will go down to the Metro station and catch the metro. Those that want to go to Lao Jie right away for some shopping may, or also there is the option to go to Window of the World (Shìjiè zh? Chu?ng) and check out the theme park there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Window_of_the_World
----------------------------------
For the group that goes to Window of the World I think it is straight forward enough what they are going to do. So they will arrive around 12:30pm maybe and hopefully leave by 5:30pm.
-------------------------------
For the group that goes to Lao Jie may I suggest being there from 12:05pm -3:00pm and then hoping on a taxi that goes to Wal Mart (Yes this time the real Wal mart and not a supermarket)
-------------------------------
After that we can select a meeting area, I suggest going back to Lao Jie (Dongmen) and maybe having some dinner there with everyone as a group. Then going for massage, or vice versa we could do some cheap massage in Dongmen and then maybe head to Shekou for dinner/drinks. Either way we can head to Shekou afterwards and get drinks on, or we could stay in the Shenzhen City centre area and go for one of the cheap, local discos.

You may return to the HKSAR whenever you feel like it. I suggest for the late nighters to take a cab to Lok Ma Chau control point and taking the bus there to either Mong Kok/Wan Chai/Tsim Sha Tsui/Kam Sheung Road or Tsuen Wan. Unless you want to go for another massage and spend the night at the massage place (free once you pay for the massage) or rent a hotel out.

Daytime you may return by bus as well, or by Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation via Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau* (* Unless Lok Ma Chau opening is delayed)

Please RSVP as we need to know who all to expect. State who the heck you are, who you are bringing and maybe a contact number to keep things in order. Please RSVP below.

Things to keep in mind:

*Shenzhen CAN be a dangerous place. Try to leave expensive things at home and bring only what you need with you. Last time we had a trip one good man lost his bag and one good woman lost her cell phone. (By lost I mean stolen/pickpocketed)

*To enter the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone you need a valid visitor visa (Unless you are of Chinese Citizenship) Please try to arrange one ahead of time through either the PRC Foreign affairs office in Wan Chai, Japan Travel Centre in East Tsim Sha Tsui (Not applicable to Americans) or China Travel Services (More Expensive) If you cannot get a visa before hand you should be able to get one at Lo Wu (Except Americans) However it can take some time, normally 10-15 minutes, but if they get slammed it can take longer which may hold up the group. So just let me know if you need visa at the border services.

*The timetable for the day is subject to change ahead of time and on the day. I want everyone to have a goodtime. So whatever everyone wants to do lets do it instead of setting a limit.

*If you have any questions please send an email to me and I will respond within 24-48 hours.

*If the 15th isn't good for a large portion of people we could move it one week later. But, the amount of people would need to be rather large.

Thanks for reading,
Mike/Chigger

Sounds good. I'll have to cancel work for the day to go though (yes, I work on Sunday). I have a three-year multiple entry visa for China, and I've always wanted to check out Walmart in SZ. I think I'll come along. Put me down as 60% probability. Thanks for the msg on Facebook Mike!

Jay I think you just need to come. None of this 60% stuff :P No problem about the message though.

Vodkalicious can you push back flying? We will most likely do this again, but not this month and most likely not anywhere near the start of next if next month at all. I am getting a fair amount of confirmations right now. So to change it could be a mess. No matter what day I pick some can make it and some not. So next time hopefully those that can't make this one can make the next.
