I personally like Viceroy and Bombay Dreams... Bombay Dreams being slightly ahead in the taste depart.

Viceroy is good but personally speaking I think it has gone downhill in recent years.

Talking Catering of authentic Indian/Pakistani food done by a nonprofit organization

Hey, my office was surprised to learn that The Pakistan Association of Hong Kong (a nonprofit organization) also provides personalized and affordable catering of authentic Indian/Pakistani food. I strongly recommend you give them a try!

Within the past month my Chinese boss (I am an American Expat) has had them cater two lunches on-site for our clients from the England and France who are a mix of Indian and non-Indian. The food and services has been GREAT both times! They deliver some vegiatarian and non-vegiatarian meals and the food arrives hot (not always the case in the past) - most important to my Boss is that our Clients enjoyed it so much that they are looking forward to eatting it again when they come in November!

The contact info my boss gave me is:
The Pakistan Association of Hong Kong (a.k.a The Pakistan Club).
TELEPHONE(S): 2780-2157 and/or 9718-1857
CONTACT: Mr. Iqbal

Minar, on Hennessy Rd - near Yoshinoya. Seen it umpteen times, never had the time to try it.

Anyone tried Shafi's on Wanchai Rd (has a bowing Air India maharaja statue in the shop window) across from CC Wu Building?

Veda does very traditional dishes too. Maybe your only exposure to Indian food is from other Indian restaurants. So u find other unusual or regional dishes "non Indian".

Shafi's on Wanchai Rd

this is your regular chop shop where the gravy looks the same in all dishes because it is the same. Mostly Chinese crowd so its more sino-desi

An interesting newcomer is Khana Khazana on Jaffe rd opposite Delaney's -Pure Veg and pretty steep I think the Idli was aboutt $40, but one of the best on the Island

I am keen on giving Khana Khazana a try based on your comments.

Minar on Hennessey is very poor.

Shaffi's was good but has sold out to the local masses.

Kohnioor Indian Restaurant Bad Food.

I have tasted Indian food at many Indian restaurant in HKG, in my list Kohinoor restaurant in TST, LKF & TaiKooShing are the worse in food, service and the staff are rude. The food is so bad my friend Jim had food poisoning and could attend his work for a week. It is a good eye opening to eat Indian food in bad restaurant.

Not sure I can totally agree. I used to eat at the TST shop before that area was renovated and it was always very tasty with good service.

I had a bad experience eatting at Kohinoor and may be not for you. There are other good Indian restaurants like Viceroy, which I would consider A1.
