Good chips anywhere?!

My boyfriend and I have just moved here from the UK and my boyfriend is home sick for some proper chips! Can anyone suggest any places to go for good chips? We live in Happy Valley. Thanks!

There are really quite a lot of places around that do good chips. The key phrase that you need to know when ordering chips in bars or restaurants is "fat chips", otherwise you will tend to get skinny "french fries" by default.

For the full "fish and chips" thing the only chippie that I know of in HK is the one called "The Chippy"

I think mickey D's is pretty good. I personally think it's better than Burger King and Hardees.

The Chippy

Great news about the Chippy so many fish & chips shops have come and gone here in Hong Kong we need another one of them back up and running here in Sai Kung though the HHYC does a fair job of them on their menu.

'fraid not.

I reckon it is much harder to find good fish in HK than good chips. All the bars where I have had fish & chips have used some sort of pre-manufactured "fish in batter" things which have obviously just been "finished off" just prior to serving, rather than freshly frying the fish in freshly made/applied batter.

The F&C's at Delaneys are pretty good actually, but also check out the F&C's at Dublin Jacks - very nice.

I can't comment on The Chippy though as I've never tried it, but I hear they are recently under new management.
