Dell Hong Kong

I m very much interested in ordering around 4 TFT screens on the Dell Hong Kong website, but the problem is that I do need them as soon as possible, latest mid next week....

Unfortunately, they do need 1-2 working days only for processing the credit card payment, isn't it ridiculous?

According to email communication I had with a sales rep they do need further 6-8 days for delivery, even if they put the order on priority.

Any experience with that company? How long does the shipment usually take? Is there a chance that they deliver earlier than they anticipate?

Is there a chance to buy Dell appliances in Mong Kok or Wan Chai computer centre? In the States, many other (online) shops do sell Dell stuff...

If you order online, then it does normally take them that long. I recently ordered a notebook from them and it took them a week and a half to deliver. Not that I'm complaining, though. It's a good machine, the only grouse is the time it takes for delivery.

I even considered ordering through one of their retail stores in Wanchai or Mong Kok, but the problem is that their 'retail' outlets are only "road-shows" meant for display and promotional uses. You can place orders there but they would take roughly the same amount of time as ordering online.

With Dell I find that the shipment times depend mainly on how much customisation you require. In the last 6 months I've had a server which came with 4 days and a PC which took around the same amount of time. The laptops take considerably longer because we have them specced right up for the programs we are using.

In regard to payment you do know that you can do a bank transfer and the money is there immediately?

I hear Dell has or is planning to have retail outlets in the mainland where you can buy what they have. It might be faster to shoot up to China and then have 'em shipped back yourself

Although they say 6-8 days, the stuff usually arrives quicker... we've bought a fair number of PCs and Laptops over the last couple of years from them. No major problems.

If you're looking for LCD monitors .. whats so special about Dell? You can pick up Viewsonics or Samsungs or any other brand for pretty much the same price (I think) in Wanchai.

They have one monitor that is highly recommended by many computer magazines in Germany, in all tests it reached one of the top rankings.
The other "winner models" (NEC, EIZO) are much more expensive... so that's the reason why I d love to have the dell monitor!
When spending so many hours in front of it, it's important to have a decent screen I guess....

DHL delivers your dell...

Just remember that dell doesnt send anyone to set up your computer. Most people wouldnt mind, but if your interested in sending a dell computer as a gift to a computer novice, remember that he/she would need to install the computer themselves.

DHL delivers Dell computers in HK, or so it seems.

That is not correct.... We ordered 2 Optiplex computers from them, and Dell offered us many times to send a guy for setting them up.

It would have been a free service, but probably depends on the series you order.

However, DHL only delivered the things.

I guess it depends on the situation. In our case they didnt offer any services to set the thing up, but i guess it doesnt hurt to call them up if you're having problems.
