That's a really vague question.....What purpose is the camera going to serve? What price range are you thinking?

Choosing a Digital Camera is a personal choice that depends upon many factors....including price.

Are you looking for something very compact or is picture quality your main concern?
Do you want a good zoom?
Does it need to be waterproof (i.e. do you want to take it snorkling / diving)?
Do you know anything about photography or do you just want a point-and-shoot camera?
etc...etc...etc...

This is an even more vague qustion....Why do you think one camera would be a much better buy in HK over another???

yeah true.. okay. im still debating whether i should get a point and shoot camera or invest on an SLR.. and i come from the philippines and canada. i know canada doesnt have anything and the philippines gets its electronics from hongkong.. if ever i do get the point and shoot camera, id prefer over 5MP.. what would be the cheapest one but a good brand?.. and for the slr. i still have to research on that.

As climber07 says, which one is best for you really depends on your use and needs, even amongst point and shoot cameras. You have to decide what is important for you and choose a camera on that basis, whether your priorities are small size, telephoto zoom, wide angle, low light performance, ergonomic controls etc. etc.

Cameras from the major camera brands such as Canon, Nikon, Fuji etc will all be pretty much OK, it just depends which combination of features you need.

The cameras available in Hong Kong will be fundamentally no different from those available in Canada (although some of the newer models might reach HK a bit quicker) but the prices will be a bit lower. HK camera prices are roughly similar to the prices in the US.
