hkkm is on a distinguished road
Air tickets - book on Zuji
Hotel - book on Zuji, or one of the other many online booking sites
Sightseeing - get a guide book, pick up a map in Chinese at the airport, take taxis or metro between sights.

I was in Taipei last weekend, and this is what I did.

Tokyo, Shanghai are better options than Taipei (which is a fairly industrial place)

Haven't been to Shanghai, but Tokyo and Taipei are two completely different places. Taipei is ok for a long weekend - plenty of Taiwanese food, sightseeing. Tokyo is awesome - heaps and heaps to see and do (and the shopping there is something to behold). Take at least 4 or 5 days for your first time to Tokyo (you will want to go back), but after 3 days in Taipei you will be ready to come home.

Cheers!

hmm. its the same feedback from my friends. taipei is nt worth for 3 days. you will get bored in 2 days itself. there is not much sightseeing there. just food and drinks..
