I have been reading through the forums, but was wondering about asia travel while on a hong kong visa. i read somewhere that when you go to renew the visa, you can not have left the country in the past 180 days. true? false? will it not "show up" or "count" if it is vacation travel? we are just getting hte first visas now, but want to be prepared so we don't make any mistakes that would jeopardize our future renewals. that being said, give us your recommendations! There are a few F1 races hubby wants to go to, in singapore, china, and japan; any other recommended asian/less than 6 hours flight destination would be appreciated.

You can leave and come into the country freely as long as you have a visa.

No problems at all - I think you read about people who had abused Tourist Visas in an attempt to live full time in HK. On an Employment/Dependant Visa you can come and go freely. Pretty much all of Asia is within 6 hours flight.
