shoulder tendonitis

shoulder tendonitis

Had tendonitis of the shoulder from wakeboarding and still hurt after 1/2 year.

Doc won't give cortisone injection as i had one before around same area. He gave me some infrared? joint treatment from physio but not helped much.

He thinks it will heal naturally but after 6 months its better but not fully healed.

Shall I just wait?

Sure is stingy with the cortisone. Did he say it would take this long to heal? Seems a very long time, but shoulders are so hard to rest. Is it in the rotator cuff area? Might want a second opinion.
I have overcome tendonitis by lifting weights.

I broke my shoulder three times, and I find the only thing that helps is seeing an osteopath that uses a gentle touch, not manipulation. It does wonders if you find a good osteopath.

the muscles in the surrounding area may have weakened. The tendonitis should not last so long. don't leave it too long or it will get chronic. try to strengthen the muscles with a good physio. start with simple stretching shoulder exercises and then include weights slowly increasing each time. when you get pain ask yourself what you were doing before the pain appeared. If you get pain when doing the exercise then stop you may be exerting too much. but dont stop exercise completely as you need to workout muscles to improve strength.

Stretching is also important. I have tendonitis in my knee and if I can't exercise it for a long period, stretching keeps everything good.
