Hi, must seem like an awkward post but nonetheless I go. I'm somehow getting more and more interesting in boating, but in m whole life I've never been much on a boat. I'm really interested in getting started with that, not necessarily but probably also sailing but here's the big question: Where and how? I've checked the websites of several yacht clubs but this all seems over the top. It seems there are no things like discussion forums on any of these, and frankly, I don't know what to expect when I walk to the more cheaper clubs (like ABC). Because of my nerdish attitude it's not always easy to get along with people, especially to say that nerds and skippers probably don't have much in common. Question is if someone of you knows about a community which is easy to join or has some other feedback what clubs / places are recommended for the absolute beginner. Needless to say, none of my friends have only the faintest interest in getting wet! Would be glad to get some feedback! Krawall

Few of the yacht clubs do beginners courses and think the govt leisure services has courses as well. Can try to dig up if need.

Maybe try Dinghy sailing first, I believe you can hire dinghy's in Stanley. A lot of sailors start with dinghy's.
