rant over

OK you've posted your rant and vented your anger but i suggest you let it go now before it eats you upside. its only a plane you missed

Fact is you were late for boarding (regardless of blame) and the airlines are well within there rights to leave without you .. after all everyone else managed to get on the plane on time didn't they?

However you have a valid point. its standard practice to remove your luggage if you don't board and this is mis-sight on the part of the airline. actually its usually the reason the airplane will wait for late passengers as it takes far longer to remove your luggage than it does to announce your name and track you down ...

The regulations don't say that the passenger and their luggage must fly together. They say that the passenger's luggage must be off-loaded if they voluntarily or for reasons that cannot be determined do not board the flight. In this case I assume that someone decided that you missed the flight involuntarily and that this was, therefore, not in breach of regulations.

In any case, that regulation is a bit meaningless now - it comes from the time when the assumption was that people hijacking or blowing up planes would not be happy to die themselves. Since this is now clearly no longer true the regulation has no real value from a security point of view.

the 'security' checks can be abit paranoidial in certain countries.

i have ever been in long queues for security check, interviewed for 30mins with luggages all laid out...

but it depends on the nationality though. that's why sometimes its really good to have a singaporean passport.
C'mon dude..

Based on his previous posts, Rastaman is I think european (hence no real passport issue as well).

I regularly fly as well and it NEVER took me two hours from the security check to the boarding gate...

My guess is that Rasta spent a little bit too much time in the Liquor shop or in the bookstore and that he simply missed his flight....final point

As for the luggage issue I won't comment as I have no knowledge on this.

which country he is from, i have no idea. maybe he has certain anestral traits that made the security keen to interview him.

from my memory, i do think that the security checks are conducted before the liquol shops... not sure where he is talking about though.

i have heard of 2 hour nightmares. never went through it myself though.

Dude, Continental broke the law, these laws that are trying to do something to prevent airlines from blowing up! The same sets of laws that stop you from bringing liquids onto an aircraft. The most important thing for me is not to die, so I won't wait for the money from my Nigerian friends to upgrade to a safer company. I don't care about saving 200$ if I risk to die in the process.

clip_my_wings clip_my_wings, I am already on the FBI list. Why do you think that they very carefully check my luggage every time I fly? Random checks don't happen 100% of the time, do they?

Let me conclude: the law says that on international flights no unaccompanied luggage can be put on a plane. The Continental people themselves told me. But they don't respect the law. Terrorists probably know this, and it follows logically that they will do their best to target Continental flights. So if you fly Continental you have more chances to be blown up than if you fly (for example) Cathay Pacific.

You do what you want, but if you want to maximise your chances of not dying prematurely... don't fly Continental.

Rastaman,

Please tell us exactly which law says that no unaccompanied luggage may travel on a plane.

(Hint: don't spend too long on this, because you'll be wasting your time: no such law exists.)

Moreover, please explain to us how, in an age where terrorists have shown themselves perfectly willing to die for their cause, such a "law" would in any case reduce your chance of being blown up?

And finally, you are aware, aren't you, that you are coming across as a complete idiot?

Dude, as you say, I won't waste my time trying to find this law. Why should I? I have many more enjoyable things to do in my life. Countless people (including all the staff of Continental I talked to) confirmed to me the existence of this law, as in 'Your luggage can't possibly have flown to Hong Kong because this is against the law. We can only have unaccompanied luggage on national (i.e. US) flights, not international ones'.

I couldn't care less if you believe me or if you don't. Not a single zop. Not even a fraction of a single zop.

I didn't know that, and again, I couldn't care less.

Some people (not you, somebody else) might actually care about their security. My message was intended for them, not for you. Please ignore this thread from now on.

But you'll waste your time posting on "every forum"?
