It's published by the SCMP - you should be able to buy a copy at Dymocks or any decent bookshop.

The title is "Hong Kong Hikes".
Author: Christian Wright

The ISBN10 is 962-86887-1-5.
The ISBN13 is 9789628688715.

misao is on a distinguished road
Dymocks nor swindon dont seell it ( Hong kong Hikes)
it's out of print.
Although I found another book which is really worth checking.

The Leisurely Hiker's guide to Hong Kong by Pete Spurrier
ISBN: 978-988-98270-2-1
It tells you how long the hike would take and how to get there, the pictures are great.

The Serious Hiker's guide to Hong Kong by Pete Spurrier

It's available at Swindon Bookstore
Tel:+852-2366-8001
Lock road Tsimshatsui
MTR exit C2

I also found this website which I find helpful

For those who don't want to carry the book there's a DVD called Explore Wild Hong kong and comes with a free map http://www.hkoutdoors.com, I'm awaitng reply from the website on how to get hold of it.

WalkAbout will become famous soon enough
Send a message via ICQ to WalkAbout
~ the major trails for free

you can find the major trail basic maps for free on the internet from the hong kong government web site :

http://www.afcd.gov.hk/parks/trails/...ing/hiking.htm

MacLehose Trail (Length 100Km)
Wilson Trail (Length 78Km)
Lantau Trail (Length 70Km)
Hong Kong Trail (Length 50Km)

print the pages you need to take and laminate if you wish.

But those maps are so basic as to be absolutely useless. I wouldn't recommend to someone to go out onto Lantau island and up 3000' mountains with those incredibly simplistic sketches. If you're doing the major trails then you need the Countryside Series of maps (7 cover the whole territory) which you can purchase online at the Government Bookstore at http://www.bookstore.esdlife.com (they give a discount online which makes them cheaper than in the stores and guaranteed up to date).
