Hypnosis & dyslexia

I was recently shown an article that claimed dyslexic people had minor defects in their ears & eyes, which would go some way towards explaining why dyslexia and poor balancing skills often go together. The reasoning in the article was that the brain had to try to compensate for the loss of information from the sensory organs and thus this both caused poor balance and some problems with reading and writing.

A dyslexic friend of mine is getting fed up with the hearing issue and is contemplating a quite expensive hypnosis treatment to see if it can make it any better.

Can hypnosis improve peoples' concentration skills - my friend has problems hearing the individual sounds in a word, making it difficult to learn new words, not to mention a new language.

Does anyone here have any experience with hypnosis or know somebody who is a hypnotist, and would hypnosis really work for this sort of thing?

Has your friend had their hearing checked? May be worth doing a hearing check first. Often people can have perfect hearing but the processing has the problem. One of these problems may be multi-sensory neurons, where the visual input interupts the hearing as the vision is faster. An imbalance in the vestibular system may also be a contributing factor.
Sound therapy can be effective as can kinesiology and combining both is common. Not sure about the hypnosis, it could be possible.
There are various sound therapies available, Somonas, The Listening Program, etc.
Kinesiology is available in Central.
There are also many people in HK doing Braingym which can help balance with integrative exercises.
