Student visa would be offered for taking a UNIVERSITY course such as going for a masters, Phd or other Diplomas. |

| Why? But if for example, I came to HK for some short-term language course? It's possible in China & why not in HK? |

| See paras 34 to 39 of this document for the criteria under which applications will be considered favourably. Personally I don't see a short language course fitting readily with them. http://www.immd.gov.hk/pdforms/id939a.pdf Last edited by PDLM; 19-05-2007 at 07:50 PM. |

Long Answer: If you are here as a tourist you should be able to take a "short" language course. There should be no need to stay extra for a short language course. You can learn Cantonese anywhere. No need to be given a resident card because of a extra course. |

| You can apply all you want. It is just unlikely that a short, non-university language course will provide sufficient justification to extend a visa. |
