True.

Sort of similar to saying that the holocaust did not happen.

Having said that .. atleast he did not deny global warming ... god forbid.

Or perhaps the technology will develop faster than your character reading, you can already "read" Ming Pao in English, sort of:

Some languages are easier to learn to read than others... Traditional Chinese possibly being one of the hardest of all

But I understand why they don't bother...

Oh come on, not that hard to learn Chinese. If you can read about 3500 Chinese characters you should be able to read most if not all of the newspaper.

Yeah I agree, their papers look alot more entertaining than the SCMP. They also have nice cartoon illustrations .[/quote]

Yes they 'look' more entertaining but from a journalistic point of view, these local newspapers are not trustworthy at all. Some reporters are exaggerating or self-create the 'news', or strictly speaking, 'stories' out from their imagination without the support of facts. Ming Pao, Sing Tao Daily are good but the rest suck.
Just my 2 cents.

Anyone read the article - last Friday I think - of the poor guy who pled guilty and got fined $5000 for posting a link to a pornographic website in a forum. I can't remember exactly what law he broke, but all he did was paste one link in one forum.

Am I missing something? Crazy.
Come on- that's crazy, I'm sure I wont get a fine for doing something as mundane as linking to some tits from Geoexpat.

Newspaper comes from fast growing, commercially run plantations, not rainforests. It's really not worth losing sleep over this one.

but dongfang and apple are crap newspapers. yesterday's dong fang headline was something about a baby inside a baby? some eery story that isnt worthy to be a front page headline.
they dont focus on world events. only the sad accidents that happen to locals. like the woman who slid 16 ft on her face after getting hit by a car. u'd think locals are all sadistic maniacs.

Another crap newspaper is The Sun. Every news on the cover page is all about crimes, violence, slaughter, triads, someone jumping down from their flat, bridge, into the sea, etc.. I bet 90% of the cover-page stories are personal stories but not something about our society. Those personal stories would only take up a small portion of space 10 years ago. Also read the headlines. They carry the editor's point of view and nothing objective!

I thought a newspaper supposed to be 60% baloney and 40% actual information (otherwise nobody would read them). Anyways I like stories about crimes, violence, slaughter, triads, someone jumping down from their flat, bridge, into the sea.......they kickass .
