6 month unlimited entry visa to China for U.S citizens Hey guys alright this is my last immigration questions. I was just wondering if anyone has every applied for a 6 month unlimited family visit visa or travel visa. I am actually going to use it mostly for traveling to shenzhen, but I will be using it to visit my relatives in Beijing this July. My parents just mailed me my old passport with an old China visa to show that I received a VISA before. I also got my aunt to write a letter saying that I will visit them 3-4 times within the next 3 months. :P Has anyone had any problems with trying to get a 6 month unlimited entry visa?

Got a ID card? Should not be a problem with a prior visa. Go to the CTS in Wanchai directly. (They are a bit random at times)

Hmm there might be a problem with trying to get a 6 month unlimited visa. I just called up 2 travel agencies and they told me there was NO WAY I could get an unlimited family visit/tourist visa. However, if you go to the U.S Chinese embassy page it says that its possible to get multi entry up to 2 years. I should of just applied for a China visa when i was in the states. I thought it would have been easier in Hong Kong...

you will need a couple of stamps in your passport before they issue a multiple entry visa. Do a couple of single entry day visits to Shenzhen and then try re-applying. It will be costly but that is the only way

Few Single entries to Shenzhen will not work for an American. He will need to go to CTS or Wan Chai and pick up a single entry visa for China. After 2 of them normally you can get a multiple entry. Not sure if that applies for non HKID holders.

This is absurd. I dont understand why the laws are different if I apply from Hk . It says on the Chinese Embassy website that I could get an unlimited entry family visa. My other option is to mail my passport back to the U.S and get my parents to apply for the visa for me. Also what about printing a fake business card and getting a 6 month business visa? Will that work?

No. They ask for a letter from your employer. And if you somehow got away with it and the Chinese authorities figured out that you lied you could end up in a lot of trouble (in Chinese jail). Anyway, you will still need a couple of single trip entries before you can get the unlimited entry visa. And, they are more reluctant to approve a multiple entry visa for an American tourist than for an American on business. Oh, and don't mail your passport back to the US while you are abroad. Its a bad idea, and in an emergency you wouldn't be able to go home quickly or without considerable hassle. Last edited by hello_there; 16-05-2007 at 06:54 PM.

I did all my visas in the US. MY wife and son both received a one-year multi-entry tourist without any problem. My wife had a previous tourist visa, from years ago. My son did not. For some reason this is easier in the US. We used one of the web services and I had to write a letter stating why they needed the multi-entry. But no problems.
