I am also looking, not a great sport here is seems. There is an outdoor wall in Kings' Park, haven't tried yet though.

You found any outdoor climbing yet?

met some local climbers last weekend, and went to a bouldering gym (in the middle of nowhere). when the weather is nice they take day trips outdoors (hoping they do sport in addition to bouldering). i can let you know when they head out again.

haven't been to the wall yet in King's park.

I was also hoping to find the climbing community here...though I;ve only been climbing for about a year, and need to buy equipment still. Please let me know if people find out where to climb/how to find the climbing community. Thanks!

climbing this sunday

For those interested in getting outside to climb... if the weather is good, I'm meeting up with some local climbers on sunday, aroung 10 a.m., to check out Tung Lung Island.

Let me know if you're up for it and I'll leave more details.

Cheers!

Anyone knows where to buy equipment in HK? I need a rope, ATC, harness, shoes, chalk ball, etc. I haven't climbed in a few years, but I've been hitting the gym and trying to get back in shape. Can't meet up this sunday but will definetely be interested in future events.

There are several places, but the best is Chamonix in Yau Ma Tei / Mong Kok. The guy who owns the store (Mr Cheung) is a serious alpinist who (as far as I can tell) started the store to fund his climbing trips. Carries mainly Beal/BD ropes (can't remember what other brands, maybe Edelrid?). He's also responsible for building the popularity of climbing in HK (he ran a lot of courses back in the 90s).

There's also RC Outfitters on HK side and Mong Kok if you need Mammut ropes.
