DB living for singles

I know all about DB being great for families etc etc but there must be some people who live there with no kids, (surely!!)
I've been here for 2 years and HK is great but am getting a bit over living in Central/ HK island. Am investigating my options for when my lease is up in a few months, so am curious to hear from anyone young/ single/ not a family living in DB.

i'm not single but.. My bf doesn't really get to come back as often as I do.. airline tickets get quite pricey from the US to HK..

When I last came back to DB/HK it was with him.. and I have to say I did notice it was more of a family / couples type area... with loads of kids .. Many of which who really drove me insane (the screaming children!?) Anyways.. I'm also curious as to see if there's any younger people on DB.. aka in their 20's etc.. that are active and all that. Looking for people do do stuff with when I return!

There is a place across the water from Hong Kong Island called Kowloon, it has some decent areas. Or do you require an area full of expats?

Expats or no expats is not my issue, and I am well aware of that place called Kowloon as I work there. I am aiming for somewhere with more space, and where I can go running as soon as I walk out my door. I'm curious to hear from people who actually live in DB, not people who don't live there and tell others not to.

I never said don't live there did I? You asked if it is too family oriented. So I am giving you another area with more space should you want to look at other options.

This is my third year in DB and I have neither children nor pets. If you're looking for an active nightlife in DB, you're going to be disappointed. Most of the party crowd heads to Central at night. The ferry ride back has not bothered me in the past but I know people, who don't cope too well if the sea is a bit rough (especially after a bit too much to drink). The DB plaza attracts people of all ages but it's mostly to drink - no music, dancing etc. During the week, I rarely stay out late; however, on week-ends I don't really mind the fact that it takes an extra half our to go to Central or get back home. I enjoy DB for its relatively clean air, lack of traffic, the seaside dining options and the beach (although I tend to go to South Lantau if I want to go into the water). There are a lot of pros and cons regarding living in DB, it really depends on your personal preferences. Let me know if you have additional questions.

I like DB and I know of singles who do live there. It's a gret place to live, and the Beer Bay makes me happy. I don't party during the week, and I live in the Mid-Levels, but it is nice to have dining options. The ferry has WiFi too, which is always nice. I'd be happy living there, since I like to ride bikes and I can't really do that in the Mid-Levels.

I'm married, both my wife and I are in our 20's, no kids. I don't live in DB, but would love to! Unfortunately, I'm still committed to another year in my lease. For the first year here, we didn't visit DB, because everyone said it was lame if you don't have any kids. Believe it or not, there are young expats here who don't need to drunk every night in order to have fun.
