If a smoker can't even last a few hours without lighting up then its a very sad state of affairs indeed.

It's a conspiracy! I am not actually a person, but rather a robot created by a highly vocal, yet mysteriously funded anti-smoking lobby.

Either that or I'm a bit sillier than you and never check the dates on threads. What's Hops' excuse though... hmm...

Pollution concern for any person (since smokers are being singled out for mass pollution in Hong Kong in many publications):
Okay, here is a new question. Why did Dr. Sarah Liao shelf the suggestion to give tax breaks to Hybrid and environmental friendly cars? That means it will automatically not be reviewed until 3 years from now per what I was told.
For smoking / non-smoking debate:
If employees and visitors of a restaurant smoke (and acknowledge this) why can there not be smoking and non smoking restaurants/bars? Then we are only hurting ourselves. It is our own decision if we choose to harm ourself - as others do to themselves with steriods, alcohol, slimming drugs etc. and so many other ways.
Excuse: this thread appeared out of knowhere when I joined another wrote to another one - so I guess the technology at this website tricked me.

You heard of something called passive smoking?

Yes Steroids/alcohol etc are self inflicted but breathing other smokers second hand smoke is not something thats not so easy to avoid.

I won't name the restaurant but it's run by a very well known company here - I was given a free drink voucher by the "floor manager".. I went back abt a month later with 4 people and wanted to use my voucher for ONE simple glass of wine for ME only, not for all 4. Guess what? They said it's for standard drinks only, not wine.

How ignorant is that?

Back to KIA's original question....

I've been at a bar that collects business cards. At the end of the week, the owner pick one and that person wins a happy hour to host their friends on a week day of their choice. The restaurant/bar sponsors free snacks or drinks for up to 20 friends for one hour. People get so excited about free drinks, they invite everyone they know and that gets the bar publicity. Plus, usually the crowd stays for more than one hour and that gives the bar some profit.

cardany has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Stop dissing smokers (I don't smoke but I have no problems with them). You can CHOOSE not to sit next to them.

What about hiring hot waiters/watiresses? Haha I would definitely visit more often.

Yeah, poor things, we should go easy on people who belch or talk really loudly too

I'm with Esque - segregate or ban 'em like most civilised countries are doing now - shame we can't do the same with the belchers and shouters
