quiet coffee shops?

hi. can anyone recommend a coffee shop or sth similar where one can sit and enjoy a quiet read or study? i'm from the seattle area and so for the closest place i found was the pacific coffee next to the avenue of the stars. unfortunately, it is still crazy on the weekends, a pain to get to (coming from tsuen wan), and got my phone stolen

anyways, not sure if such a place exists in hk with all its crowds, but thought i throw the question out there. thanks!

I guess that's because they are businesses not charities - if it ain't selling much coffee then it isn't a viable business so it isn't going to last very long...

Is it not quiet at home? Or is your air conditioner broken? (if so, I can relate)

I never understood the need for people to 'study' and 'work' at coffee shops... Usually these people have the fanciest notebooks (Apple, of course) and wear glasses with the thickest rims... I just don't get it!

... LOL

Cafe Habitu

This is a good one, Cafe Habitu. It's on G/F 8-10 Queen's Road East, Wanchai, Hong Kong. The first cafe I was brought to when I got here. Nice interiors, quiet (well it was when I was there) and you can take your laptop for wireless internet surfing.

did you read about the japanese specially the homeless ones making the interenet cafe their home since they can access the internet access and some have showers.

anyways... there is a japanese coffee shop in causeway bay called pokka i think. its in kingston road behind ikea/park lane. not a lot of people frequent that area being it located at the back of the busier areas. it's quiet during weekday afternoons.
