living neighbourhood wanchai/CWB/kowloon

Hi all,

I have a job offering in HK. I'll be starting in august, and the office is located in the Hopewell Centre in Wanchai.
I am looking for an area to live in that is not too noisy, has easy/quick accessibility to my office, but also to nightlife in HK. So, i reckon new terretories is a little too far - does anybody have a suggestion on what areas are best suited to my whishes? What about wanchai/causewaybay/kowloon? I am looking for a buzzing area, but not too much
I appreciate any suggestions.
thanx

ash12006 will become famous soon enough
where to live

i would look no further than the area around hopewell...
fairly quiet but still plenty of food and bars...and not too fair to the dodgy part of wanchai if your that way inclined
might pay 7-9k for an older unfurnished place
or 10-13k for a newer possibly furnished place

Wan chai:
Places on kennedy road are nice if you have a big budget, I live on st francis street which is fairly quiet and much cheaper than kennedy road.

St Francis street has lots of new eateries and hopewell is 2 mins walk and you can mostly walk in the dry when it rains (why do people walk in covered spots with brollies up). Plus we now have the new admiralty entrance in the newer pacific place building, cuts outdoor walk to mtr to about 1and a half mins which in summer will be good.

People are friendly enough.

Have fun

Have a few friends who work in Hopewell Center but live in Happy Valley (Hong Kong island) and Tin Hau (Hong Kong island) both these are quiet neigborhoods not to far from the 'action.'

Personally, I live on Kowloon. I had a breakfast meeting in Hopewell about three years ago - and perceived the commute could be a bit tedious after a period of time.

CONGRATS on the job and Best of Luck!
