Broker to sell UK shares in HK

After exercising my company share options I now own UK shares for which i would like to sell. I am not a UK citizen so cannot directly open a UK brokerage account.

Does anyone know of or have any ideas how i can sell these in HK? I am looking for a local broker that deals with international shares. The process preferably be easy and low budget.

Much grateful if you can share your experience if anyone has encountered the same problem.

Are you still with the company? Do they have a designated broker who can help you cash in?

well, its abit tricky.
depends on whether you hold the physical share scripts.
else even if you open a local brokerage account, you have to provide a way for them to take control of your shares to sell.

anyway, my fren is using philip securities hong kong branch and he is able to purchase london listed shares.

May I ask what companies these shares represent?

As KIA says - normally the company has a designated broker who will deal in the shares for you and this facility persists even after you leave the company. That's certainly how it has worked with the two European multinationals that I have worked with. How did you actually go about exercising your options if it wasn't with the involvement of a broker? In what form do you now hold the shares?

actually there are other possibilities.
one is a custodian account with e.g. euroclear or clearstream. those guys can help you hold shares.
you can then tie up your broker with them and provide them with the broker authorisation to do sales.

different countries wld do it differently.
in singapore there is a central depository that your shares will be credited, and your brokers (would already have been tied up with the shares account) simply execute any order you instruct. the option exercising is not done through a broker.

Thanks KIA. I am no longer with the company and was advised by the company that I need to arrange for my own broker in HK.

I am physically holding a share certificate in my own name.

Will give Phillips a call..

Would like some more choices.. does anyone know of any other brokers?
