I put bad breath down to lack of water drinking before going to mtr. Drink water need toilets but there are none on mtr!

What gets me on mtr why does everyone crowd into middle carriages when the end ones are only half full, you'd think people would learn.

And also there is never any need to sprint for public transport when it comes every three minutes, love going to admiralty and watching people try to run for train that is on other side run forest run

I put the bad breath down to bad hygiene including not brushing your teeth. Often the culprits look like they don't brush their hair and wore their clothes to bed.

The seasoned MTR passengers know the best carriage for the interchange or escalators because as we all know first out/on the escalator gets to be the next Chief Executive!

Hmm. My MTR gripes are twofold (ignoring the pushing and bad breath, which I've slowly become accustomed to):

1 Bags. Usually it's men with stuffed rucksacks who get on a crowded train and then proceed to batter you with it for the rest of the journey. Why can't they take them off? Some women with big, pointy shoulder bags are also really annoying.

2 Newspaper readers. They take up loads of space, rustle the thing at you, and then lean all over you because they'd rather read than hold on. Some people just take it for granted that you're there to lean on so they can enjoy their morning shovel load of tits n gore.

If people annoy me, I usually say something or "bump" them into place - there's the etiquette - but how many times can you do it? Ahhrrggghh

Haha, I do that and normally they give way, but some of them feel strong and start arguing. I had my funny times believe me. Just show'em some beef and they'll crouch back into the cave.

Hi Lowlight, I am a Chinese, I agree with you about this man's unpleasant behavior on the MTR, he should have paid more attention to other people before eating chicken and making his fingers greasy. However, there are a few things needed to be said,

1) I am not sure if you are aware of that calling a Chinese a ''China Man'' is very insulting for Chinese, just like you call a Black man a ''Negro'', I haven't seen other expats using this name on this forum apart from you, not sure what is your intention.

2) With all due respect, how did you know for sure the man who was eating chicken with greasy fingers is actually a Chinese but not from other asian countries? I assume that you had conversation with him?

I think he was probably talking about a mainland guy as some of the mainlanders that come down are really rough and have no manners at all, even the local chinese hate them.

wtbhotia, I am afraid that I am from mainland China as well, it's really bad seeing people are getting the sterotype and to used to judge a book by its cover.

Rose_mary, why so unhappy with others comment? Just be happy! From their comment, you can knows what level are the guy/gal was. How wide their view of point was. Is it?

A lot people thought they are different compare with others people. This happen just because, they only can see the situation around them, they lack of info about others place, they even can't imaging how others place people live. That might be because they are too lucky born and living in a city.

For people from rural or some small village, we can't expect them have same hygiene level like a city people. Those people even don't know their behaviour being categories as "no manners". In HK, we easily can see some "unhygiene" people because a lot mainlanders are here to visit one of their most advance and modern city. (HK is part of China, I pressume everybody knows it)

Mainlander are here to see the "the advance of HK", but they bring in some "uncivilisation manners". As a civilisation place resident, even can't forgive the mainlander's "uncivilised manners", then you should know how civilised this kind of people was.

If every mainlanders visiting HK are "civilised" as HKer, then they don't need come far away to see the modern and advance of HK lol...

How civilised the "commentator" are, if they can't stand on others people's view of point while thinking?

Rose, again. Just forgive the people named "civilised people" but not really civilised enough.

hey.. i m a chinese, but i think since rose_mary posts, the forum start moving towards a 'typical chinese debate' ... like.. one is expressing their thoughts, sharing their experience, then ms. righteous came in .. saying hey.. the point u've just made is wrong.. blah blah blah, you shouldn't ... you should ... i assume.. blah blah blah...
then another mr righteous came in to support ms. righteous ... and the topic just go out of track completely.
TYPICAL CHINA MEN BEHAVIOUR I WOULD SAY, AND THIS IS LIKE PLAGUE SPREADING QUICKLY IN HONG KONG ESPECIALLY AFTER 1997.
now.. please come back and share your experience subjectively...
