Wireless router from PCCW

after the earthquake a while ago...our router was busted...and so PCCW installed a new router...which this time happens to be a wireless router.

I want to try and setup the wireless access...but they said it is not allowed...and will not help unless we pay for the WIFI package

but we dont want wifi around the city.....we want wireless in the office

i did this at my home by buying my own wireless router...and it works fine without their WIFI package

anyone have any ideas on how to set it up or access the router?

If it's a re-branded model then find out the brand and download the manual.

try to type this in your browser and see what you get:

http://192.168.123.254/

this seems to be the common IP address they use for wireless routers access page.

if it doens't work ask the more experienced guys. sorry its not really my domain. 8-P

When connected to the router, select "Run..." from the start menu, type in "cmd" and hit enter, in the DOS window enter "ipconfig' and hit enter.
In the output, look for "Default Gateway" which is the IP-address of the router.
Note that the router set-up might still be disabled or password protected to prevent you from changing anything.

i'd think routers would have a reset button for you to clear any settings or passwords set. but once you do that you might not get back the original setting of your system.

It obviously is enabled already, otherwise you would not have an internet connection.
What you want to enable is the wireless LAN (or WLAN). How that is done depends on your specific router, but typicall done through some browser based interface (i.e., having entered the router IP address in your browser). Look for pages that mention WLAN, SSID (the "name" of your wireless network), channel, etc.
