As an aside, I don't understand why you have the hub and the router... Wouldn't it make more sense to put the firewall between the DSL modem and the Linksys and not use the hub (if the linksys has enough ports - or connect one of the devices wirelessly).

matt, don't give the blue shirt white collar engineers too much shit. They are contractors and not the real PCCW engineers. PCCW may buy and deploy any kind of shitty (money saving) network equipment/DSL modems and these guys have to deal with all the flack. The white shirt guys are well far ahead and old timers, you only get to see those when they have totally messed up your network. I remember one case, where they (blue shirt guys) wired a T1 to the phone lines and soon as you picked up the phone set to dial out the internet went down. They had to call in the white shirt guys from the exchange to clean up. I remember when you could call HKTelecom at 3am and they would send an engineer out within 1 hour and would work until the circuit was fixed.

sorry for the delayed update... they still don't know what the problem is....and after going through several bouts of "its your mac...its got to be...its that damn foreign device".....and then they finally moved on... next they said it was the line, then they said it was the equipment, then they said it was the server, then they suggested using Yahoo instead of netvigator email (LOL) as it was faster...... in the end.....he improved it slightly so that we would not get connection time out errors when trying to send a 500KB email, anmd speed was slightly faster....but still not how it used to be before the earthquake. another fight another day......the battle continues
