Diving Certification in Langkawi?

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone knows if there is a place to get your scuba diving certification in Langkawi. My wife and I are going there next month and I want to have an idea of how long the process took, 3,4,5 days? written tests? cost? Thanks for any info.

try East Marine based in Kuah. One of the top operators on the Island. I didn't do a course with them but did use them for diving at Pulau Payar. Really enjoyed myself and a really friendly bunch with multi lingual staff.

basic course usually takes about 4 days including water based and classroom based tests and exercises.

good luck.

Dont forget that you need a day of rest after flying before going into water and a day of rest before flying as well.

Yeah...I realize it, my wife already informed me that if I planned on spending 4 days of our vacation in class (i.e. away from her), I'm S.O.L., thus I'll just get my certification in Hong Kong

Hahaha...if you like the water. Another place that I think is nicer than Langkawi is Pulau Redang. It's on the East Coast of Malaysia. Very beautiful. In my opinion, nicer than Langkawi and more to see as well

This is a common misconception. You only need to wait AFTER diving, to go flying again.

DAN (Diver Alert Network) are the ones who recommend 24 hours after diving, or if you have had a decompression dive, then they recommend waiting 48 hours just to be safe.

Obviously it depends on many factors, mainly to do with your day to day physiology, which is why 24 hours is normally the safe bet.

However - it is perfectly safe to go diving straight after flying - DCS (i.e. the bends) only occur moving from high pressures (i.e. under water) to low pressures (i.e. in the sky). Not vice versa.

If you want to learn in HK, then you could use someone like Splash HK in Sai Kung, or Prodive based in Wanchai.

i've had no personal experience with them, so no I can't. Maybe someone else who has used them can give them a recommendation for you.

By the way, their website doesn't seem to exist for me, is the URL correct?
