Unhappy Track bicycle

Hi folks,

I'm attempting to get hold of a track specific bike without shipping one of mine over here. Has anyone seen any of the shops selling them? They seem to be a bit sparse.

Thanks

try these guys

Have not seen one in "the flesh"... however, Chung Yung have them on their site (these guys stock LeMond, who has a decent track bike with a steel frame). Otherwise between them and flying ball you will find it. flying ball has a good rep amongst expats, is big on cannondale etc. Chung Yung is quite good, but as it is in Sheung Shui, a bit hard to get to.

Hope this helps...

Track bikes

Ahhh. I love track bikes/singlespeeds. So elegant, but how are you going to frickin' use it in Hong Kong?!?!?!?!! You must have trained Iron Legs kung fu as no way would I be able to climb OR descend so much going on a track bike!!!!

Track bikes are lovely for a flat city like Chicago, but I just dont get the hardcore guys in SF that are able to ride that around. I understand you could use a different cog, but still!!!!

~ fixed gear

i did see a chinese guy on a fixed gear in central, looked like a homemade fixie or all of the manufacturer names were removed.

its the only fixie i have seen and looked NewYorkCity in style, even the rider look NYC.

most track bikes come sans brakes as well, i'm impressed you want another bike with a fixed gear. i remember the first time i rode a fixed and i was freaking out, rode it on a track as well.

Cool thanks,

I've already sent flying ball an e-mail and they can get a surly for me which is good, the lemond would also be a nice option although pricey as it's named brand and nothing special.

I wasn't planning on riding much on the island, especially as i live in sha tin, but i have spent a lot of time riding fixed in london which has similar traffic and hills if you look for them!

I may post a pic if i get one.

Flying ball

Flying ball rules! I dropped by to check it out and it's got great pieces of kit.... my favorite fixed gear is the bianchi pista which they dont have but they have some serious mountain bikes!!!
I need a job soon so I can afford an Ibis Mojo Carbon! (Or win some obnoxious sum of money.)

The bianchi is very bling to the eye, they've done a good packaging job with it. Good luck with the cash for your Mojo!

I'm going to take a trip up in the next week to see what their bike p*rn is like, i expect good things .

You won't be disappointed by the bikes there. I just wonder who actually affords those bikes and if they honestly use them for their full potential.

I have restrictions, if a bicycle could potentially cost more than a car or motorcycle, get the car or motorcycle.

it's all relative I guess. a $12000 bicycle is way nicer than a $2-3000 bike, but once you go beyond $15000 mark, you're only shaving off a few grams here and there.

doubt you'd get a good quality car or motorbike that wasn't getting long in the tooth for that money.
