Smile Moving to Hong Kong in July

Hello there, I guess its time to introduce myself as I will be moving to Hong Kong in July with my husband and two children from the UK. I have been reading the posts on this forum for some time and all the tips have proved invaluable particularly with regards to schools and accomodation. I have one question which I have not been able to find the answer to and that is that my 9 year old son goes to PKA kick boxing lessons and it is something I want him to carry on with. Does anyone know of any sports centres which run these particular classes? My son's instructor seems to think that PKA is only done in Europe, is that right? Also my 4 year old daughter does ballet at school, I'm not sure that thats an option in Hong Kong, we are still waiting for school places. Are there any ballet classes for little ones that anyone can recommend?

Hi I don't know about the PKA boxing thing (to be honest I've never heard of it before) but I know they do offer ballet classes here in Hong Kong - I took lessons myself when I was growing up here. I'm including a few links below as suggestions as to what is available. Hope this helps.

hello babydoll1, I bet you are just as excited as we are. I'm counting the days although I am giving up my job in the UK and don't quite know what I'm going to do with my spare time.

Harrowgirl/babydoll;

From London too....not far from Harrow but have lived out of London for more than 10 years with the last 7 in Asia.

First of all, welcome...you will loooooooooove it. The kids will love it once they settle down.

In terms of Ballet schools - there are loads and depending on the school your girl goes to they may well offer after school ballet classes.

I have never heard of PKS boxing but once you get here you can ask some of the other martial arts class teachers.

We have the one gitls who is 7 so won't know much about PKA Boxing.

Drop us a line if you need any tips on the move. Is this your first move ?

Hi Katanga, this will be the first time we have lived abroad as a family although I did live in Italy for a year as a student. I think this will be a fantastic experience for us especially the kids. London life is very hectic and that doesn't leave much time for family so I'm looking forward to actually spending more time with the children instead of having to pack everything into the weekends.

Hi,

New to this forum, hope you can help. Re the job market Jimbo. I think I have 2 options for moving to Hong Kong. Have 2 years experience as a teacher & 7 in financial recruitment. I just want to know how much I would need to earn to live comfortably in HK. Accom seems so expensive!

depends on your lifestyle really and whether its just yourself.

Teachers and recruitment consultants are in demand in hk so you shouldn't really have a problem in finding something and both roles pay pretty well as well.
