This type of episode just breaks my heart.

Why cull when they should just stop breeding them?

This is honestly the first I have heard about this.
Thank you for posting it.

while we're on the subject of animal cruelty, why not watch this:

www.peta.org/feat-canadaSealHunt.asp

it's what happens when we cross the line and delude ourselves that humans have dominion over other creatures. A burger is not just a burger; it results in all forms of unspeakable animal cruelty throughout the world

I really don't understand... We are humans. Humans eat animals. If you don't like the taste of animals, or don't want to eat cute ones, then don't. But let the rest of us live normal lives.

I think the big issue with the killings was HOW they were done, not just that they were done.... even in an abattoir, the animals do not know what is happening. there is general confusion for them, yes, but they cannot see or smell the carnage directly. this would have been extremely distressful (assuming the press hasn't exaggerated on a few details... now, why would they do that? )

Then, I think you need to put it into perspective - so many animals that (for some reason that you nor I really know or have a say in) had to be disposed of, so little resources to do it, and a lot of people not willing to do it. So, how is it going to happen. is it better they left them to rot or keep them in inhumane conditions?? one wonders what is the lesser of 2 evils here...

>> Humans eat animals.

agree 100%. So long as we accept that we are no different from animals too.

>> But let the rest of us live normal lives.
