Also, in this changing world there is more and more pressure being placed on kids to succeed (nothing new in Asia...like Japan, etc. (but look at the suicide rates?)) These kids do not know how to handle stress! (I remember having problems with kids back in the day, heck all of us had conflicts at school, .but back then we worked it out on the playground , sometimes with fists, etc.) Today, they look for a different way out because they don't know how to handle stress or deal with bullies. Schools need to provide some serious training on stress and its dangers.

| | | stuckup has a great point, insurance companies should be covering mental help. appointments with pyschologists et al are very expensive and most people can't afford it out of their own pocket | |

| | Good point there. Kids nowadays have so much pressure to succeed. If they don't get straight A's it means they're useless. Guess that's why their stress level goes off the charts.
In Asia or elsewhere, they can't get guns that easily so maybe that's why they take their anger blaming it on the society and chose to suicide. But when you put guns on their hands, who knows what will happen?
Ya, so mental health is important. They need to have a proper way to "destress" or have someone to tell them it's okay if you're not a brilliant student.
As for controlling bullets availability, it doesn't matter if they kill 1 or 20. It's still wrong. Their family still suffers...

u can't artifically control the price of a commodity and hope to control the usage. someone is going to try to profit from it in the black market and circumvent your objective | there already is a black market. organized armed criminals rarely go shoot up schools and offices.
tax the heck out of ammunition & control the sale.

| | | u didn't get it. once u impose high tax, the black market for bullet is going to pop up and people are just going to make bullets to sell without tax.there's no way to control that. maybe bad quality bullets with alot of in chamber explosion but nevertheless cheap enough for buyers .. | |

tax the heck out of ammunition & control the sale. | since there already is a blackmarket, what can be done about ammunition sales in the retail sector? retail sales should be targeted because its the normal guy next door that does not have criminal connections to the blackmarket. just as luxury cars, alcohol & nyc tobacco tax; the tax of ammunition should be more commensurate with its inherent responsibility.
the tax stipend could be of good use to help solve issues surrounding random shootings and other gun control measures which are not effective. | | Tools | Search | | | | | Rate This Thread | | | All times are GMT +8. The time now is 07:57 PM.
