that's why this whole portrayal of american gun crazy culture, maladjusted korean youth, etc...nationalities/ethnicities are a non-issue that for some reason people, especially the media, like to get riled up about...

Although the answer is probably "yes". Way back when, the St. Valentine's Day Massacre horrified the nation, and began the end of prohibition and Al Capone. Seven people died. Today you would be lucky if that total made the national news.

People kill each other all the time. That has been going on since well .. a very long time.

But, at some point, does the collective come together and figure .. "is this killing a serious problem". In the case of 9/11 a nation rallied behind a confused president because they saw innocents being killed by well.. an unknown force that could be stereotyped and identified very clearly as being non-american.

What happens when the killer is not a single entity...

of course it's always easy to rally collectively behind a foreign unknown.... that goes without saying...plus apparently the geneva convention doesn't apply to the us so they don't need to give foreigners due process...
but if it's a domestic issue, get ready for the lobbyists to come in from all sides...

if you get started on drunk driving, do you ban alcohol (they tried that once, didn't work), do you ban vehicles? it just goes on and on....then what about intentionally killing oneself? the number one killer of americans is heart disease...

Ah, I have to agree with you on that then. Since it's too late to recall all the weapons, I supposed they really need to take a hard look on why all this is happening and what can be done.

However, at the end of the day, with easy access to weapons, there bound to be people who'll abuse it, making the chances of incidents like these higher.
