Is it true? And if so has anybody been their since the changeover is it still as good?
Till my recent op used to go once a week they did the best steak and kidney pie in town.

| | | It seems to have been taken over as the old brit is no longer there and the food has gone downhill. | |

| | from today's SCMP After a decent pint, bar manager turns to fish and chips It's not enough that The Globe's Toby Cooper is keeping beer guts afloat with the largest selection of ale in the city. Now he's making sure the heart-challenging cuisine of fish and chips remains alive and clogging, after taking over and reopening the Pottinger Street snack shack known as the Chippy. "We bought it at the end of March, but only opened last Tuesday," said Cooper (pictured). "We are trying to be as true to an English fish and chip shop as we can, with good-quality cod and haddock, hand-cut chips, homemade mushy peas and great curry sauce. "The plaice [a flat fish] is proving a little harder to source but I haven't given up yet. We are expanding the menu as we go." Given that the bar man is newly crossing over to foodie, he added: "We just opened last week, so we are slowly finding our feet. Constructive criticism is appreciated." | |

| | | I ended up in there with some friends when the new guy was having a test night with his pals. Frankly, I thought his attitude was out of order - he was peeved that we were asking for service, despite the door having been left open. Seemed a shame when the previous people there were so friendly.
But... obviously that's no reflection on the food, and I'm sure they'll make a cracking fish n chips. Give them a chance and see how you get on for yourself.

| | I was thinking that's exactly what happened to us also on the same night, until I realised its you! LOL!
Agreed, the new owner was a complete idiot and very obnoxious and although I was standing outside away from the full shop, I still managed to feel embarrassed by the whole situation!
Still hope to try the F&C's soon though (even with his attitude to us that night!). Quote:

| | | Comedy! Hi P, it was weird though.
Anyone know of any other chippys around, for when the craving strikes... I heard there was one in Sha Tin, but not sure where...?

| | Alas, its me again. I am aware of one but its not purely a F&C-ie. Its called The Fish Company on the 7th floor of New Town Plaza, and erm, it was just OK.
Not a patch on what we had at Dublin Jacks.
