my comp wants to take off

Hello

You guys seem to be into you computer things so thought would ask on here that what is up with my comp.

When i turn my laptop on and when it is on, it sounds like an aeroplane about to take off. What is up with it?

I work on it during the day and the noise is really starting to annoy me.

Thanks

Probably the fan - it's feeling hot. Are you doing something that's working it hard (particularly continual disc access)?

I know it ain't funny. By internet is it possible you're running things like a tvu player or something that is using a lot of memory to run?

Haha - as you can tell i am not very IT.

Nope just email and thats it -- havent got anything that uses a lot of memory. Although i use illustrator so maybe that takes up a lot of memeory when i have all the files open.
But it does it even when havent got that open. When i turn it on it is crazy loud.

Do i need to clean the fan or somethings? Or um g ar.

Had something like that before and my sis' ex boyfriend told me that my motherboard or something is dying...and I ended up buying a new laptop. Had that laptop for around 3 years before it started 'speaking' to me.

It could also be the hard disc beginning to give up... make sure you have backups of everything important.

The only thing that can be making the noise is something that is IS NOT solid state. A CPU or chipset cannot back noise apart from BANG if it explodes.

I suggest

Hard Drive spinning ( high speed frequency with indication by led light ) , Floppy drive ( low speed frequency, usualy a " chuckling " or " wokka wokka " sound as it tries to read a non existant disk in the drive.
or Fan ( if it is interfering with a casing part the sound will be like a playing card stuck in a bike wheel ). If the fan is noisy by dirt it will be a sensed by a low volume humming accompanied by vibration felt through the casing.
