Required new owner for 2 cats

Hello!

We're looking for someone who wants to take care of our 2 cats. Two years ago we adopted them from the SPCA, now they're looking for a new home because we're moving back and the circumstances don't allow us to take them with us.
One of the cats is ginger and the other one is black, both are very sweet and very good with children. They've never bitten or scratched anyone in their life. Sometimes the ginger cat can be a bit shy. They're used to living in an appartment. Also, they're castrated and have had all the vaccinations.
If you want to take care of the cats, or if you know someone, please contact us. You can always ask us for more information. Of course the new owner can have them for free.

If can't get anyone then consider trying one or more of the following groups - they all do re-homing in some form.

HK Alley cats.
HK cats.
SPCA again.
Pets Central.

Can get numbers for any of them if you wnat to try.

Yeah, I've adopted a cat from an animal shelter.

One that's been kept in a cage all its life and used for breeding. Supposedly FIV + but after a further blood test, did not test positive for it. However, it does have a long-term medical problem which is expensive to treat.

But the point is, when I agreed to take it on (without knowing the above medical condition), I would do so for the rest of its life. When I leave HK, it will go with me.

I just think it's sad that a pet gets used to someone and is then left here when the owner decides to move on. There may be good reasons to do so. I'm sure the above person has thought about why.

I just hope it's not because of inconvenience or expense of flying and quarantine.

I don't think we should use this forum for pet exchange.

Why don't you do what we are doing. Leave the cats in the care of your vet-if he has a kennel-and fly them over when you are settled in. I know it is expensive but think of school fees etc. for kids and than the cats cost is peanuts.Sorry I assume you have no children or parting with the cats would have been more painful.

Thanks for all helpfull tips on re-homing, will definately look into it!
I do think some people here are very quick to judge. I thought this forum was to help each other out? Ofcourse we meant to take those cats on for life and ofcourse we're going to miss them when they're not living with us anymore. Situation is, 2 kids both moving back to europe to go to uni, dad stays in HK, travels for work during the week, mom going back and forth between europe and HK from this summer on. Situation not planned when we got the cats.
So we figured it would be better for the cats to get them a nice new home rather than to lock them up for 4 days a week... feel free to disagree with me on this.
certainly not about the money fyi.

But again, thanks for the re-homing tips, didn't know about those organisations yet!

Eva

Cats

Hi Eva sorry to hear all this. You know there is one more solution , if you do not want the cats to suffer in a not so friendly environment . The Green needle, I know it sound so mercenary, after all it is a living being, etc.
But we take life in all our so called " we are the Saviour good guys"wars so putting your cats down might be the right solution Haw hard it is? VERY. But this is what the catteries doing with un-placable cats. I don't envy you, don't write about this any more you just get confused. Do what you have to do.

Good luck with your studies.

Eva, a pet is for life. Would you ever give up your kid up for adoption? Getting rid of your cats is not better for them, is better for you. Did you not expect your kids to grow up 4 years ago?? We all have to make sacrifices and you decide to choose to abandon the cats. Please don't make excuses for yourself. Imagine how you would feel if your whole family decides to abandon you for a better personal prospect out there. I don't feel sorry for you at all. I feel sorry for the cats.
