Fake Nokias with modifications.

I can't find where I read this but. I hear that there is now available fake Nokia/Sony phones being sold in HK that have redesigned outlook or even have additional functions added.

Has anyone seen these?

I think it is more than Nokia/Sony. See lots of Motorola too.
Keep in mind they are made in China, but you can find hundreds of them inside the mobile phone shopping centre on Argyle Street.

I went to check them out. The cases seem to be similar but inside they are not running the same software.

I found some "NOKA" phones, which were smaller versions of the Nokia equivalent.

I am so happy to see the guy that sold the fake Jade ring got 3 years in Jail. If the same could be done for fake computer and networking products my life would be a lot better.

Dad bought a couple of mobile phones from China. To be honest, they were pretty slick and had quite a bit of functions too. But they had strange brand names. Something Omnipotent or something close to it

They claimed they had extended the functionality of the phone and I wonder if they are doing it by being able to hack and modify the Symbian OS on ROM or they just use completely different software.

I would like to do some simple modifications to my phone. Eg. whilst I can get the T9 dictionary language files from anyone else who has a Spanish Nokia, I don't have a method of putting them into the "ROM/locked flash". I would also like to edit and extend language file as the measly 4K personal T9 dictionary does not cut it.

I would also like my phone not to be starting the Cell Broadcast Server as it eats up fair bit of ram and it does not do anything in HK or elsewhere I travel to.

If they release them with more ram also that would be of interest. Other little hacks would be nice.

Hmmm I know Motorola's are pretty hackable, not too sure about other phones.
